FAQs
Confidentiality
The content of therapy sessions are kept confidential unless:
You have signed an electronic consent form for me to coordinate/release information with individual/provider.
You have disclosed suspected child abuse/vulnerable adult as I am a mandated reporter.
You report desire/plan to cause threatening/serious bodily harm to person(s)
You disclose plan to end your life. I require all of my clients to sign a consent form for an emergency contact, in the event that a plan for safety is necessary. This consent can be limited and can be solely for safety planning purposes.
I am a big advocate in keeping your information confidential. This being said sessions will not be able to take place, if you are in public (e.g. store, park, restaurant) or around others that you have not signed a consent to share information with them.
Is the data plan on my phone feasible for a session?
There are times when clients are most comfortable doing sessions from their vehicle. This is ok as long as you are parked. However, using phone data or a phone signal is not always strong enough for a video session. We can do sessions by phone call if we run into this. Wi-Fi typically provides the most reliable connection for video therapy session though.
What platform is used for therapy sessions? Will I be using Zoom?
Once you schedule a consult call or appointment, you will be prompted to set up a profile through Simple Practice. It has a video platform imbedded in it that is HIPAA compliant (fancy way of saying confidential).
What hours are you Available?
Currently, I offer sessions on Tuesday/Thursday evenings.
Occasionally, openings other days of the week do come up though. You are welcome to inquire on a specific time and day to see if we can work something out.
What ages do you work with?
I have experience working with adolescents, teens, and adults. When providing individual therapy for minors, I require legal guardian to be present for initial session. They MUST also be present for the last 15 minutes of session following the intake session. Caregivers have a vital role in their children’s lives and also play an important part in children’s mental health journey.
Do you offer in person therapy?
At this time, I am only able to offer telehealth appointments. Feel free to connect with me still if you are interested in a referral. I have several great colleagues that offer in person therapy.
How will I know you accept my insurance?
I am happy to check on this for you. You can send me a photo of the front and back of your insurance card via my HIPAA compliant email (courtesy of Paubox).
